British boxing veteran Chris Eubank Jr. is riding high following his impressive victory against Liam Smith in their recent rematch. Eubank’s comprehensive stoppage win in Manchester has put him in the spotlight, with fans and pundits speculating about his next opponent.

One name that has emerged as a potential opponent for Eubank is WBO middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly. However, Top Rank president Todd DuBoef has expressed uncertainty about whether Eubank is eager to seize this opportunity.

Eubank has expressed interest in several high-profile bouts after his victory over Smith. Still, as of now, no official deal has been reached for his next fight. One option on the table could be a long-awaited showdown with Conor Benn, who recently returned to the ring victorious.

Alimkhanuly, the reigning WBO middleweight champion, took to social media to express his willingness to fight Benn. He also pointed out that Eubank is the number one contender in the WBO rankings.

“Now Chris Eubank is number one in the WBO ranking,” Alimkhanuly stated. “I’ll knock him out in the first round with my eyes closed! He knows it. If he agrees to fight me, this fight will happen in Vegas!”

DuBoef, who serves as the promoter for the champion, is certainly interested in the potential matchup. However, he doubts whether Eubank is genuinely interested in the fight.

“I think you’re touching on something – the answer is yes, without a doubt,” DuBoef remarked. “But it takes two to make a fight, and for some reason, no one will go to the participant.

“The participant is overtly omitting, dodging, or moving away from the opponent – his team could want it, his mother could wish to it – but if the athlete doesn’t want the fight, it’s not going to happen.

“It takes two people to make a fight, and years ago, there was a different model.

“We’ve morphed into a model where we’re trying to bring the highest quality and best fights to our platform, and we think the whole industry rises, and everyone can go surfing in a big wave rather than in a little pond.”

As the boxing world eagerly awaits Chris Eubank Jr.’s next move, the potential showdown with Janibek Alimkhanuly looms as an enticing prospect, provided both fighters are willing to step into the ring.
