Lennox Lewis, the former undisputed heavyweight champion, has had an illustrious career in professional boxing, facing some of the biggest names in the sport. Now, reflecting on his remarkable journey, Lewis has revealed the smartest, most intelligent stepped into the ring.

Lewis, the last undisputed heavyweight champion, boasts 41 wins, 31 by knockout, one draw, and only two avenged losses in his 44-fight career. His list of opponents reads like a who’s who of heavyweight boxing, including Donovan “Razor” Ruddock, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, and Vitali Klitschko.

Despite facing some of the most formidable opponents in the sport, Lennox Lewis has singled out Vitali Klitschko as the most innovative, most intelligent encountered. The pair met in a thrilling about in 2003, which ended in the sixth round due to severe cuts on Klitschko’s face. While their clash was fierce, mutual respect has always defined their relationship.

Recalling his memorable battle with Vitali Klitschko in a recent interview with The Ring, Lewis shared his perspective on what made Klitschko such a formidable adversary.

“Vitali used his awkwardness to good effect. Everyone said I should have fought him again, but he was icing on my retirement cake. I took him on at short notice, and despite being mentally ready, my physical preparation wasn’t ideal. I beat him at my worst, so there was no need for a rematch. He experienced the uppercuts.”

Notably, Lennox Lewis never faced Riddick Bowe in the professional ranks despite their historic encounter in the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Although some have speculated about a potential showdown between Lewis and Bowe, it remains one of the untold stories in boxing.

In his remarkable career, Lennox Lewis left an indelible mark on boxing, securing his place as one of the all-time greats in the heavyweight division. His perspective on the smartest, rightmost intelligent face gives fans a unique glimpse into the world of boxing at the highest level.
